What is the Indocentra Size & Fit Guide?

2 min read
This is a caption for the illustration

The Indocentra Size Guide is designed to help you choose the size that fits you best before placing an order.

Instead of relying solely on standard size labels such as XS, S, M, or L, we encourage you to compare your own body measurements with the measurements provided for each garment. Size labels can vary between brands, garment styles, pattern designs, and intended fit, so the same labelled size may not fit the same way across different products.

The Indocentra Size Guide consists of two parts:

Body Measurements – A general reference to help you identify your recommended size based on your own body measurements.

Garment Measurements – Measurements of the actual garment shown on each product page, allowing you to compare them with your body measurements and your preferred fit.

Taking a few minutes to measure yourself before ordering can help you choose more confidently, reduce uncertainty, and minimize the need for exchanges or returns.

How do I measure my body accurately?

1 min read

Accurate body measurements are the foundation of choosing the right size. You only need a flexible measuring tape, a mirror if possible, and a few minutes.

For the most reliable measurements:

  • Wear lightweight, close-fitting clothing or measure over undergarments.
  • Stand naturally without holding your breath or pulling in your stomach.
  • Keep the measuring tape level around your body without twisting it.
  • The tape should be snug against your body but not tight enough to compress your skin.
  • Measure each area twice to confirm your results.
  • Record your measurements in centimeters unless another unit is specified.

If someone can help you measure, your results are often more accurate than measuring yourself.

Once you have your body measurements, compare them with the size guide provided for the specific garment you wish to purchase.

How do I measure my waist?

1 min read

Your natural waist is the narrowest part of your torso, typically located above your hips and below your rib cage. It is not necessarily where you wear your trousers or skirts.

To measure your waist accurately:

  • Stand upright in a relaxed, natural position.
  • Locate your natural waist by bending gently to one side. The crease that forms is usually your natural waistline.
  • Wrap a flexible measuring tape around your waist, keeping it level and parallel to the floor.
  • Ensure the tape is snug against your body without compressing your skin.
  • Breathe normally and take the measurement after exhaling naturally. Avoid holding your breath or pulling in your stomach.
  • Record the measurement in centimeters and repeat the process once to confirm accuracy.

Your waist measurement is commonly used when selecting skirts, trousers, shorts, dresses, and garments with a fitted waist. Always compare your measurement with the size guide provided for the specific garment.

How do I measure my bust?

Measure around the fullest part of your bust with the tape level across your back. Keep the tape comfortably snug without compressing your clothing or skin.

Your bust measurement is taken around the fullest part of your bust. This measurement is commonly used when selecting tops, shirts, kurtas, dresses, jackets, and other upper-body garments.

To measure your bust accurately:

  1. Wear a well-fitting, non-padded bra or lightweight clothing.
  2. Stand upright with your arms relaxed by your sides.
  3. Wrap a flexible measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust.
  4. Keep the tape level across your back and parallel to the floor.
  5. Ensure the tape rests comfortably against your body without compressing the fabric or skin.
  6. Breathe normally and record the measurement in centimeters.
  7. Measure a second time to confirm accuracy.

Once you've recorded your bust measurement, compare it with the size guide provided for the specific garment you wish to purchase. Different garment styles may use bust measurements differently depending on their intended fit.

Best Practices

Recommended

Keep the measuring tape level across your back.
Measure around the fullest part of your bust.
Allow the tape to rest comfortably without tightening it.
Stand naturally and breathe normally while measuring.

Avoid

Measuring above or below the fullest part of your bust.
Pulling the measuring tape too tightly.
Wearing bulky clothing while measuring.
Holding your breath or changing your posture.

Expert Tip

If possible, stand in front of a mirror while measuring. It helps you check that the tape remains level all the way around your body.
